Terry and Mat being adorable shits.

deadboysteaparty:

I find this super cute and I guess I have been learning a lot about Terry due to something that a few of my friends have suggested with one of my characters teaming up with him.
I think it would be a neat idea since not a lot is done in this universe from what I have read and seen, so I do not know, either way, here is Donna Tan and Terry being rather cute.
Might be doing a lot of thinking, plotting and questioning on this possible Alternate Universe that might make sense to the one I have created a bit ago, but I feel like if I do this, I will have to throw away a lot of my ideas, but again, it could make more sense!
Uh.. Yeah.

Minor correction, her name is Dana Tan. And yes, they are cute when the series lets them just be together.

Batman Beyond 2.0 only has a handful of issue left, but Higgins and Siegel use this one to setup more than push forward.  That’s not a bad thing since what they setup is pretty damn awesome.  This arc has been about Family, but it’s also clear it’s about living up (or down) to reputations.  Everyone and everything seems to be heading towards a huge final confrontation.  I can’t wait until it happens and when it does, issues like this one will make it all the better.

Should’ve guessed that Terry and Melanie suddenly going steady was just leading up to Melanie letting Terry down again. That’s the pattern of their relationship in the series until King’s Ransom broke the trend, and “one step forward, five steps back” has been the pattern of Terry’s relationships (romantic and platonic) in 2.0.

thesevenbeerstitch:

I was told to post this by minaminokyoko cuz she thinks Max Gibson needs more love and Dana sucks big time

Was the insult towards Dana really necessary?

Oh my god, Bruce.

Adding to my list of “Things from Justice Lords Beyond that seem cool at first glance but make no sense when you think about them”: Terry and Melanie dating in the Lordsverse.

It almost seems natural when you first see it, because it was them being on opposite sides of the law that kept them apart, right? So when they’re both in gangs, there should be nothing keeping them apart. Except that in the Lordsverse, there was no reason for them to get together.

In the main universe, Melanie was attracted to Terry because he seemed so normal and wholesome and a change of pace from her criminal family life. In the Lordsverse, Terry’s with the Jokerz, so he doesn’t have the good boy thing going for him, and the Royal Flush Gang would probably consider simple thugs like the Jokerz beneath them. Lordsverse Melanie wouldn’t find much appealing about T that the main universe Melanie found appealing about Terry. Maybe she was attracted to him as a bad boy, but that’s a completely different dynamic from their main universe counterparts.

Reasons for attraction aside, in the Lordsverse Melanie would probably not even be in Gotham. The older Walkers all have British accents, so they’re probably a British family. They travel the world committing crimes, but in the Lordsverse there isn’t supposed to be crime, so why would the Walkers leave England? And in the main universe, they go to Gotham because of a family grudge with Batman, but in the Lordsverse, Batman was long dead and hadn’t resurfaced, so the RFG (if it even existed) would have no reason to settle in Gotham.

Overall, it feels like a piece of fanservice that doesn’t make much sense when you think about it. And I feel like there’s a lot of that in BB 2.0, and for major plot points along with fanservice moments, which is why I still won’t follow it.

Account’s suspended now. I’m only disappointed in that this screencap was only the tip of the iceberg, from what I recall, and now you can’t go to his account and scroll to see him calling gamergate people white sociopaths on one page and various homophobic insults just a bit below that.

Less than a month ago I was talking about 2014 being a roller coaster ride. 2014 isn’t over, and I’ve determined it’s not a roller coaster ride. It’s Hollywood’s Tower of Terror. Up and down. Up and down. Uuuupp. DOWN! It hasn’t stopped. And not just days after the death of Robin Williams, did…

Are you me?

But more seriously, I’ve been feeling a lot of the same ways you have. A blog I found relatively recently that was calling out and exposing misogynist bullshit was covering #gamergate as just misogynist reactionaries persecuting and slut-shaming a woman, and calling everyone who disagreed a troll. I posted there a bit earlier, and as it went on, I wanted to try correcting them, but… I don’t want to be called a troll or have my credentials questioned because of what I’m saying or just linking to.

I, personally, am not participating in #gamergate directly because I don’t have twitter journalistic corruption hasn’t been a big concern of mine, as I don’t pay attention to journalists. I would rather talk about the sexist harassment that still exists in sections of the gaming community. But I’m coming to understand that #gamergate has legitimate reasons not to focus on that and it’s not “shh, women, wait your turn while we deal with the serious stuff”. Trying to use #gamergate to talk about sexism would most likely just give more fuel to the people spinning the whole thing as misogynists trying to shut up women, and I don’t want to help them. I honestly have my doubts about whether the journalists actually care about social justice issues or if it’s just a convenient cover for them, and I’ve seen at least one who called all of #gamergate white boy misogynists reply to critics with homophobic statements, very much against greater social justice goals.

I don’t agree with everyone in #gamergate. From what I read of the 4chan IRC log directly, I’d ignore any participants who tried to talk to me. I’m somewhere between leery and disgusted by how some MRAs are ingratiating themselves with gamers while mocking the idea that anyone who enjoys games can call themselves a gamer. As I said above, I think the discussion about misogyny and sexism in gaming needs happen. But I also think it harms the discussion to frame #gamergate as white male nerds against the rest when it’s demonstrably not.
