Gamer gate has been trying to use Bayonetta as a rallying point, and criticism of it as proof of a “feminist agenda” in reviews

They’ve been trying to get Hideki Kamiya, creator of Bayonetta, to support them

Well, he tweeted this today.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Why #gamergate is important

Fun fact: Morgan Ramsay, founder of the Entertainment Media Counsel, did an objective study of how much of gaming journalism talks about sexism or social justice.
To do this, he downloaded 130,524 articles from 37 RSS feeds of 23 outlets, including The Escapist, Rock Paper Shotgun, CVG, Edge Online, Eurogamer, Gamasutra, Game Informer, GamePolitics, GamesBeat, GamesIndustry International, GameSpot, GamesRadar, IGN, IndieGames, Joystiq, Kotaku, Massively, MCV, NowGamer, PocketGamer.biz, Polygon, Shacknews and VG24/7, published over a period of twelve months. He then did a search on how often these games articles mentioned sexism, feminism, or misogyny.
The result? Over a period of one year, 0.41% of 130,524 articles referenced feminism, feminist, sexism, sexist, misogyny, and misogynist explicitly.
That’s less than half of one percent.
So next time you hear someone whining that “feminism is taking over video games journalism”, what they’re actually whining about is that feminism exists in video games journalism.

Though that’s the EXACT problem. No one is talking about how radical feminism is altering video games, instead of equalists. You know, not just guys, or not just girls, that want things to be equal between both genders. Whenever someone does talk about it, that 0.41%, it is usually attacked by extremist feminists worse than whenever someone pisses off the weird fandom, superwholock. EVEN THEN! Gamergate isn’t about feminism in video games or video game journalism, it’s about the corruption of the VG journalism industry. They are using feminism as a misdirection to get heat of them and onto the people who are calling them out. The woman-who-blew-five-guys, used her connections to get good reviews she didn’t deserve, and to steal money that is supposed have gone to indie game jams. People arn’t 100% mad at the manipulating woman, she is just the best example, and most public example of the corruption. They are mad at the guys who have a large amount of pull, with journalist, critics, TV media, Their fans, other game makers, and a plethora of other things that can sway the rules, as long as they get something in return. With these guys, it was doing it.
I’m begging you, both men and woman gamers. Don’t focus on the stupid ‘this is/isn’t sexist blah blah blah!’, you need to focus on the corruption in the VG journalism industry which ignores games if they can’t pay for the good review. Please people, ignore the sexist part of it, and focus on the problem, the corruption!
TL;DR: STFU about the sexist part of Gamergate, and Focus on how there is corruption among highly influential people in the gaming industry.

If you want people to STFU about the sexist part of Gamergate, then maybe you should start making comics like those unwelcome in the movement. Start moving away from making radical feminists (with “radical” meaning “anyone who takes feminist issues more seriously than I think is acceptable”) the enemy inextricably tied to the corruption.
And while you’re at it, stop passing around erroneous, accusatory, borderline libelous info, like “ZQ slept with men for positive reviews” (as it’s been established that the only “review” she got from a guy she had a relationship with was a brief mention in a compilation of games of note) or that AS faked the death threats. Stop referring to ZQ as “Literally Who”, AS as “Literally Who 2”, and every new woman you think is “attention whoring” as the next Literally Who. Stop justifying and deflecting when people bring up instances of anti-feminism and misogyny in the movement.

marysueproblems:

Alright, so first of all I get that every trait can be perfectly fine as long as it’s dealt with in a good way. But one thing that always pops up in any Mary Sue conversation is the “not like the other girls”. Because apparently being different than anyone else is only going to get you the glory. I’ve been different my entire damn life and it’s only led to me being ignored and bullied. So I’m kinda curious. Why do you think that for nearly any Mary Sue being different is a good thing?

They want to be different in a way that makes them special and separates them from the other girls while also making them somehow superior to the girls who are not different (and who usually end up being bullies in the stories).

The thing with the “not like other girls” bit is that you are, in fact, like other girls, even if you do not perceive yourself to be like other girls. Because there will be other girls out there who share the same interests with you, even if they’re not as open about it or if they don’t live right next to you. There are also some places in general where being different makes you popular, so long as you are different in the right way.

We’re brought up with the idea that we’re all unique in some way, and sometimes we cling pretty tightly to that idea because we want to be special somehow, even if we don’t have a very good idea of what it is that makes us special exactly. This “not like other girls” thing happens a lot in middle school and high school when we’re trying to figure out who we are and how we can make who we are fit in, without having a really clear idea of who we actually are, because people can be jerks, and there are a lot of bullies. So a lot of people kind of change the “how am I different and what makes me me?” question to “how am I different from them [them usually being the bullies] and what makes me better/worse?”

✿ Top Ten Favorite Voice Actors/Actresses ✿ 5/10: Will Friedle

Will Friedle’s got a great typecast of silly yet heroic(ish) characters with hearts of gold who’s battle plans consist of “do this and hope it works”. Bonus points to him for being the reason I love Batman so much. :D

[Have a favorite Voice actor that you think deserves recognition? Send me an ask about them and they might be in my next series!]

And if you want to see him outside of his typecast heroic roles, I recommend Ragnar of Green Lantern: the Animated Series.

LEGO BATMAN 3: BEYOND GOTHAM is poised to hit stores shortly, with the Playstation getting some notable content that won’t be released anywhere else, except Europe.

Yup that’s right everyone, the "Batman of the future" DLC featuring 8 Batman Beyond characters will only be available in Europe and on the Playstation network.

Well this is frankly, dumb as fuck. And that’s all I have to say about that.

Goddamnit. And I was actually getting my hopes up and considering getting the game just for the BB content.

I find it interesting that while Star Trek: First Contact is sometimes called a dumb action movie, the climax of the film isn’t a big battle, or even a small battle. The launch of the Phoenix might be considered action-y, but the guys inside don’t even know they’re under attack, they’re just thrilled by the flight itself. Picard has an action scene after, but by that point he’s already won and just trying to keep the Borg Queen from killing him to spite him.

Terry and Mat being adorable shits.

deadboysteaparty:

I find this super cute and I guess I have been learning a lot about Terry due to something that a few of my friends have suggested with one of my characters teaming up with him.
I think it would be a neat idea since not a lot is done in this universe from what I have read and seen, so I do not know, either way, here is Donna Tan and Terry being rather cute.
Might be doing a lot of thinking, plotting and questioning on this possible Alternate Universe that might make sense to the one I have created a bit ago, but I feel like if I do this, I will have to throw away a lot of my ideas, but again, it could make more sense!
Uh.. Yeah.

Minor correction, her name is Dana Tan. And yes, they are cute when the series lets them just be together.
